The Split-charge kit will monitor the state of your batteries and the charging source. Connection is automatic, so you don't have to remember to connect your auxilliary battery whilst driving. The Split-charge controller will automatically isolate the auxilliary battery when the batteries are no longer receiving a charge voltage. The Split-charge kit consists of: Intelligent solenoid, Dual battery monitor, plug-in monitor cable, 6m each 16mm black and red double insulated cable, in-line power fuses, battery terminals, screws, lugs, cable ties and full installation guide. This kit has everything you need for a D-I-Y split charge installation. For non-standard installations, higher gauge cable is available up to 35mm. Batteries are not included.
Intelligent Solenoid
The Intelligent Solenoid is the heart of the split-charge system and can be used as a stand-alone isolator. This device monitors both MAIN and AUXILIARY batteries in a vehicle and connects the auxilliary battery when the main battery is receiving sufficient charge. The isolator is automatic, no input is required from the user. Voltage sensing, timing and all calculations are done internally. Important safety features and parameters have been pre-programmed into the operation of this system. This system does not interfere with existing vehicle wiring. No igrition wire is required.
The Intelligent solenoid is supplied with a basic hardware kit and manual. Batteries, cables and terminals are not supplied.
The National Luna split-charge system allows the user to control the connection of the batteries by overriding the built-in timer. Safety has been kept in mind: The system will not connect if either of the two batteries are disconnected, short-circuited or too flat to charge safely. The system also allows the user to "jump-start" either battery from the other. Particularly useful if your starting battery is flat.
